Installation of battery inverters
Batteries must be paired with a compatible battery or hybrid inverter. If your ESS comes with an inverter, remember to specify the inverter separately when submitting your details.
Symbium needs the battery inverter output current to run interconnection calculations. Even if your ESS has a built-in inverter, those details must be entered separately in the application.
How to fix it
- Add a new inverter to your project scope. Click the Click here link in the Resolution message. This opens a new inverter form tied to your ESS.
Fill in the inverter details. When configuring the new inverter:
- "Existing equipment. Is this inverter paired only with existing PV/ESS equipment?"
Select No if this inverter will be paired with any new PV/ESS equipment. - "Will this inverter be supplied by a PV system?"
Select No if you are recording the inverter output of your battery or if this is a battery-only inverter (not a hybrid inverter). - Enter the maximum continuous current in the Output field
- "Existing equipment. Is this inverter paired only with existing PV/ESS equipment?"
Where to find the maximum continuous current
Look this up in the battery manufacturer data sheet (also called a cut sheet). It may be labeled as:
- Maximum continuous current
- Inverter output current
- Rated output current
The value is usually listed in the system technical specifications table, under output data.
For systems that use microinverters, the data sheet will show a per-unit value. Multiply it by the number of units in your branch circuit to get the total output current.
